->> Does anyone have any information on internet/wifi and photo workspace facilities for Barron Stadium in Rome Georgia?
I'm trying to prep for a potential trip to cover the 2012 NAIA football championship game.
It is not listed in The Guide and I came up with nothing in a message board search. |

->> Tim.....I shoot the NAIA Championship every year for the NAIA and can give you the info on the stadium and shooting there.
Barron Stadium is pretty standard for small college/good high school stadiums. It is old and lighting is not great but not terrible either. I believe it is about ISO 2000 at SS500 at F2.8. Again, fairly standard. It has artificial turf installed just a couple of years ago. The sheen off the turf can be problematic at certain angles. but not horrible.
The wifi situation is OK. They have it and you can most likely use it without any issues I'm sure. I don't remember it being really fast or slow. As for the press box and photo workspace. That's a major problem. Unless they have upgraded since last year, the press box is VERY small and seating is extremely limited. The best scenario is that if you need to send after the game, you might be able to get a seat in one of the radio booths, or from one of the other writers that would be leaving.
If you team makes it to the championship game, have a great trip down and I look forward to meeting you. Take care. |

->> All, Thanks for the info!
I didn't contact the college's SID because I figured it was probably different than usual due to it being an NAIA event.
The NAIA media info for the game mentions a media room, just wasn't sure if it was tucked into the small-ish looking pressbox or a little (hopefully) way off the stadium grounds.
We are use to transmitting from the middle of cornfields, so we're pretty self-sufficient. I just like to be prepared.
If we end up going, I'll be sure to update the guide.
Cheers! |
