->> It's that time of year again - who knows of great deals on photo equipment and accessories? I'm always on the lookout for good deals on CF cards, and I have friends who are looking for consumer DSLR bargains.

->> I am underwhelmed by the specials so far this year... maybe Cyber Monday will offer better deals for photographers.

This is pretty sweet though - a Canon G12 for $299:

->> I'm underwhelmed as well ... I like to buy extra memory cards this time of year when I find super deals, but all the good deals seem to be limited to SD cards, not CF cards.

that said ... this seems to be a pretty good price on a Lowepro roller if anyone needs something like this.

->> What I am seeing in my other business is a fair amount of control by suppliers; some dumps/closeouts but by in large it is a different time than past years; yes, there will be some great deals, but the economic reality is that door busters were very often at below cost pricing (that's why there is usually a limited quantity). Many of the price hikes over the last 12 months were not driven by raw material costs as suppliers suggested, they were the result of too low a volume level to support the margins many suppliers were selling at - so prices went up. As a outcome, you'll see deals, but not near as stupid as they were in years past. The loss leaders will be controlled much tighter because businesses can't afford to give it away in order to maintain market share.

Here's what I thought was a good deal on a Calumet rollaway I ordered yesterday. The LowePro I have had for 10 years gave up the ghost and the price of the Calumet was worth a shot.I usually spend more because the quality makes it cheaper in the long haul, but the Calumet products I have purchased in the past have always provided a very good value for the dollar spent.

->> Amazon has Samsung extreme 6gb/s SSD's for really good deals. Substantially lower than OWC's. I ordered a few of them. 480GB-$314 and 240GB-$159.

And they hated me, but I bought an iPad 4 two days ago from Best Buy and took my receipt in to get the price match, because they were $60 off. They tried to tell me that they weren't doing price match on Black Friday. But I told them that my receipt clearly said there was a price match guarantee for 30 days and that it was illegal for them to not honor it. I think they gave me the money back so they wouldn't have to deal with me if they didn't.

->> Just ordered a Lowe Pro Pro Roller Attache X50 Case from B & H Photo at $79.95 it's a great price. I didn't really need it but even with freight, duties and taxes I saved over $100.00, not bad.

It looks like a great travel case for those over night shoots.

Enjoy Cyber Monday Ladies & Gentlemen.

Costco's 3-TB Seagate drives sold out fast at $99 on Black Friday. The same drives will go on sale tomorrow until Dec. 16 for $119 with a $20 off coupon (normally $139). However, new Cyber Monday deals will be in effect tomorrow. Costco will post the items/prices sometime during the night.

Not as good as the earlier SSD deal I posted, but still a bargain for a reliable drive that, while not the fast SSD around, beats the pants off of any spinning platter drive (and please, don't talk to me about an SAS drive at 15,000 RPM that won't fit in any reasonable laptop...)
