It was recommended I replace the CF card I was using which apparently was causing some of my problems. It was a SanDisk Extreme UDMA 16gb /60MB/s. I've never had problems with any SanDisk I've owned. I'm not sure Canon are telling you to change brand as not least because I remember seeing that Canon use Sandisk for the majority of their testing. I doubt you will ever find a maker who can claim their cards have never failed.
