I am not sure the paper is going to go for the $2400 cost of the new replacement model. I was looking at the older AF Zoom-Nikkor ED 80-200mm f/2.8D at $1079, but worry I won't like it as much as my current lens. So would this one be a better alternative? Would the one stop loss hurt in HS gyms and dark HS football fields. I know it has the VR, but that does not help stop action.
