HURRY if you want to learn from Peter Read Miller in Atlanta
Brad Mangin, Photographer

->> Hello everyone. I wanted to make sure all of you knew about the awesome new workshop my good friend Peter Read Miller is putting on next month in Atlanta. Peter's Sports Photography Workshop is taking place in Atlanta from October 15-21, 2012.

Peter has been running his very successful workshop in Denver for the past 10 springs and thought it would be fun to start a fall event in another part of the country.

I have had the pleasure of covering many assignments with this Sports Illustrated legend over the past 19 years and let me tell you- Peter is one of the best to ever mount a Canon 600mm lens on a Gitzo monopod. Peter's incredible experience gained from shooting over 100 covers for SI over the past 30 years would be reason enough to attend this workshop- but wait there it more!

Sports Illustrated's Director of Photography Steve Fine will be at the workshop, as well as Syl Arena, who is a master of lighting both portraits and action using speedlites.

SpoertsShooter.com members Jeff Bottari and Shawn Cullen will lend their expertise to assist the workshop attendees and make everything run smoothly.

This is an insane opportunity!

->> As a sidebar, does anyone, anywhere maintain a calendar of seminars and workshops? By this time in the year, my vacation time is budgeted and I have restrictions on days off because of fall sports.
Being able to budget earlier in the year would be a rather helpful thing.

->> Another thumbs up here for Peter's workshop. I attended the Denver workshop this spring. I had a blast and learned a ton. Not only was Peter great to listen to, talk to, and learn from, but all the others that help out with the workshop were awesome as well.

Steve Fine is a real straight shooter who tells it like it is and pulls no punches. Shawn Cullen is a wealth of information and I enjoyed picking his brain about gym/arena lighting.

I hope to attend another of his workshops someday and recommend it to others.

Maybe next time.

->> As a past participant I will also attest to what others have said, Peter is the real deal, a genuine person who loves to share his passion with others. He is easily approachable and always accessible during the workshop to answer your questions.

Shawn is the lighting man, if you shoot indoors for any sport, he has you covered with how to light it!

Well worth the price of admission!

->> Sometimes we can all get into a rut where we shoot the same images all the time. Also, as you grow older as a shooter, you can fall into a trap of just doing what works and feel like you are no longer fresh.

Peter's Workshops are a quick and inexpensive cure for this problem whether you are a newbie or an old dog that needs new tricks, perspective, and a new way of seeing your assignments.

The other thing about Peter that few people mention is that not only is he a great photographer and a brilliant mind, he's absolutely hilarious to be around. He will keep you laughing for the entire time all while learning things that don't exist in books.

Investing in your future as a shooter, especially these days, is crucial for survival as well as success. Nuff said...
