->> Hello, if anyone has a SmugMug Pro site, could you post a link. Thinking about changing to them, but wanted to look through some current sports photographer sites to get a better feel about it. Thanks in advance.

->> I use the pro account as an online gallery for my wedding clients, so they can let friends and family easily order prints. The shopping cart feature works great for that.

I chose it because I was able to customize it enough to look like the rest of my site, so clients don't feel like they're on a different site.

Here's a sample SmugMug gallery:

and here's my regular site:

->> Pretty basic implementation... http://www.ralphmawyerphotography.com

Outstanding customer service for both the photographer and my customers. For high volume, full resolution files, their unlimited storage and bandwidth make SmugMug very cost effective.

Pretty solid secondary market of developers that can enhance it beyond the easy customizations they offer. Travis' is a good example of total integration.

For hands-off, editorial sales using FotoQuote PhotoShelter is a better bet, but storage costs will get to you there depending on your volumes.

Good support forums also...

->> I use a wordpress face page

and then two smugmug sites, one sports

http://www.sportsactiondigital.com/

and one non sports

The smugmug sites are used for large galleries and sales. I like the flexibility of print options. I use bay photo. My site was developed by David Wolf

->> Thank you everyone or the links......gives me a better idea on the flexibility of SmugMug. I just dropped my website, which was flash based, and the Apple products do not support flash of course. I have been with Photoreflect or years, but thinking of switching it all around to SmugMug Pro

->> Another questions for those using SmugMug. I signed up for the trial version, and added a sample gallery, and it loaded the full size images......took forever. I have been used to Photoreflect, that grabs a thumbnail for the gallery, then on an order, will upload the photos that were purchased. I do not think I could handle the long upload times of SmugMug, unless I am missing something, or this just happened because of the trail version. Also, I saw they process the order once it is taken. I like to be able to approve it first, and then complete the order.....just like that bit of control if I need it. Am I correct on these issues, or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

->> Robert, you have the ability to set a delay for order fulfillment in each gallery, as a Pro subscriber. Works great. 7 business days max I believe.

Not sure about your upload times. I have a fast upload connection and it may still take a few minutes for the full gallery to populate the thumbnails, but we're talking less than five minutes for 200 images last night. That said, it was acting really slow last night. Usually the thumbnails pop up pretty quickly, even without refreshing the gallery.

Drop a note to help@smugmug.com and see if it's just you or something broader last night.

I upload full resolution files and they just use that for the print order. If you upload small files then it will limit the size of prints offered, if I remember correctly. You can always replace a file at the time of order, but I just do that if more post-processing is required on the original.

->> Robert you can upload smaller images to your galleries and customers can place orders based on those. However, you would have to make smaller-sized copies of our originals for the upload.

And yes, there is an option to delay printing for up to 10 days I think. While the order is pending you can upload a larger and/or edited file to complete the order, then click a button and the order gets completed. One issue with that (other than the hassle of a two-step upload) is that Smugmug analyzes your images and based on its size will only let your customer order prints up to a certain size. I guess you could upload highly-compressed full-sized images for preview and ordering purposes but I have not tried that.
