->> I haven't tried it myself, although I'm going to pick one up today to try. I did see some photos taken of the Bolt 100m race taken at night with the built in converter and shot with a 1DX. I was astounded at the sharpness, even with the converter. From what I understand, they are made to work best with the 1DX. The photos I saw had virtually no noise; they were crystal clear. Will report back if I can get one to try.

It rocks.

I admit I was skeptical about the built-in converter, but it is really slick. Now I want a built-in converter on everything. The lens is sharp, sharp, sharp with or without the converter. Shot a soccer game, archery and opening ceremonies with it.

In a word: Impressed

Only problem will likely be sticker shock. But after using it, looks like the lens is the real deal.
