->> The zoom ring on my 24-70 jammed on an assignment tonight, it currently only travels between 28-50mm or so.
Before I box it up and send it to CPS I was wondering if there is an easy fix I'm missing here, loose screw, etc.
Thanks in advance. |

->> Have you carefully peeled away the zoom rubber ring to determine if there is a screw loose underneath?
I don't know that there are screws underneath the zoom ring, but I had a similar problem with a Canon 16-35 V2 recently. However it was the focusing ring that jammed and not the zoom ring. I found that a screw underneath the rubber ring that had loosened. Simply tightening the screw solved the problem.
I would check this myself, except I don't own a 24-70 anymore. |

->> No screws under the zoom ring, and all 3 under the focusing ring are tight. |

->> Just paid $378 to CPS to fix a similar issue with mine. That's with my 30% Gold discount... |

->> I had a 70-200 jam like that. I could not find any obvious way to fix it. Absolutely do not try to force it like I did. After it was sent in for repair, the full zoom range worked but the action was kinda scratchy due to my idiocy. I think it ran like $120 at the time (8 years ago). |

->> Had a similar problem with my 16-35 after it fell. I tapped the rear side of the lens with the front element pointing down and it freed it up. Each time it jammed the same "fix" worked. Finally it became routine and it had to go back to CPS for that and a focus issue. Cost was $125 with a gold discount. |
