Christmas Card Photoshop Templates

->> Hello All! I'm looking for a new source of templates for my holiday card orders. Not having much luck with Google finding sources of 4x8 ready to use templates. Maybe it's becuase demand has waned over the years or becuase I need to let the 3rd cup of coffee filter in. Either way if you know of a source of ready to use layered psd templates with holiday themes let me know.

Ho Ho Ho!

->> Hey Eric!

I think the advent of press printed greeting cards has hit this market pretty hard. The nicer papers and quick turnaround by these labs, and the appearance of the cards are very nice. WHCC, MPIX, Black River Imaging (the one I use) all do an excellent job. Many offer templates for free or for sale as well. My 2 cts

->> WHCC offers NOTHING for 'free' and $125 for their templates (seeing as I am printing them THROUGH WHCC) seemed a bit steep. I'm not necessarily looking for free. Right about now I'm kicking myself for not holding on to what I was using last year. Deleted them because I had used them a few year in a row and figured that I would just get something fresh this year.... Not anywhere as easy as it has been in years past.

->> Eric --

A couple of years ago I switched to using a local printer that also has a design department. I use them for holiday cards, graduation announcements, ect. and refer my clients to them. All I do is license the image to the printer for a flat fee + 10% of the total order placed with them. It works out pretty well for everyone and I'm very happy that I don't have the hassles. They have many stock designs for clients to choose from if clients don't want to pay for a custom job.

Granted, I'm giving up a little gross margin on each sale but I'm also giving the client a better solution. Key is to find a good printer that will represent you well and work with you.

WHCC is a great company. They do all of my mounted prints and I couldn't be happier.

->> Yeah, I agree on WHCC charging too much for the templates when you are gonna print w them anyway. But then I stopped using them a while back anyway. You might check out www.prodpi.com. Fanatical cust service and a wonderful lab.

Black River Imaging is who I do most of mine thru right now. No minimums or 25pc lots required, some cool templates and wonky shapes for the cards too if you want. They also charge the same rate regardless of which paper you choose.....Nice.

->> Yes, the standard 5x7, 4x8, etc... do not sell like they used to. The hot sellers now are the boutique cards with all the odd sizes and shapes. In fact, it looks like 85% of the Christmas cards that we do for this year will be these...
