Photo Blog Themes

->> I'm sure this has been asked mulitple times - and yes - I ran a search of the message board and couldn't find one thread I was looking for (should have bookmarked it last week!) and others were either outdated or didn't have the info I was looking for.

so please send me old threads if this is redundant...

simply put: looking for a good photo blog theme for a documentary project I've been working on.

i've got the domain, hosting, and it's wordpress.org, now I just need to decide what it will look like.

need to incorporate text, photos, video, and I'd like it to function as an actual blog, NOT a wordpress based site this is more of a portfolio site - those look great, but this needs to be a running blog...

Yes, I have looked at Graph Paper Press and ProPhoto Blogs, and I may use one - but before making a final decision, wanted to see what else is out there.

so besides Graph Paper Press and ProPhoto -- any other recommendations to consider??

Thanks in advance.

->> ThemeForest.com - check the reviews for the theme you're looking at before you buy.

You know a lot of the wordpress portfolio themes have working blogs, right? Just the front page on most of them functions more like a hyper-functional splash page.

I have a nearly 10-year-old blog here:

->> Another for http://www.graphpaperpress.com here. I recently switched to their Sidewinder theme for a more portfolio-based site (http://www.willschneekloth.com) with simple blog backend, previously used Modularity with my blog updates on the homepage. Really easy to customize.

->> Thinking about going with a GPP for a new portfolio type website with a simple blog backend, kind of like Will's. I am no wiz at web programing and worry that I will not be able to make it work. I know the folks at GPP are a big help to clients, but before I get that far I want some of you guys to tell me what you think.

Is it easy to load the pictures to the site? Do you have to resize them. How about arrangement of images? Where are the images hosted? On my webserver where the blog is held? What is the best style GPP theme to show the images cropped the way I crop them and not cropped to fit in a window, if that makes sense?

Thanks for any help

->> Word of advice though...I have a GPP sidewinder blog as well, and I've heard that it isn't terribly iPad friendly. Feel free to gander and see for yourself how friendly or not it is.

Regardless, quality sites they build over there. And their customer service is second to none.
