Printing Gurus I need some help
Gabriel Gonzalez, Photographer, Assistant

->> I'm using a Canon Pro9000 to print my mom's art work. I've been doing it for a while with no out of hand issues.

Now, trying to print some custom sizes in a 8.5x11 paper, the printer (or PS CS5) is enlarging the output. 8x10s are coming out 8.25 x 10.25. I also have a page that has 2-4x4 and a 6x6, both sizes are coming out about .25 larger. I tried using the software provided by Canon, to see if it was a problem in PS, but had the same results or the image came out smaller.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

->> Gab,
Before you print, check the "image size" and make sure your dimensions are what you think they are and not just the same crop ration. THe PS software also has a check box that says "fit to page". Make sure this box is not checked.

also make sure the drivers are up to date for the printer firmware as well as your machine - sometimes one gets upgrades and the other does not and problems occur - also please indicate if you are on a Mac or PC as the drivers can be different

Good luck

Steve

->> I'm on a Mac, updated all that needed to and still had the problem. I created a custom size paper for the same 8.5x11 sheet and it worked. It seems that the 8.5x11 paper preset was the problem.

Thanks!

->> Canon printers will give you problems selecting a specific paper or paper size - sometimes they have "large margin" or"oversize" 8.5x11 or a mm margin setting that does not match. Other times selective Photo paper plus semi gloss provides a different result that Semi gloss photo paper plus............. Had the long talk with CPS on this earlier this week with my ipf5000.

glad to see you got it....hate that type of frustration
