->> Dear fellow members,

This is so hard to report. Friend, colleague and Sportsshooter member Patrick Tower at just 42 years young, suddenly passed on last Friday (1/29/2011) at Normal, Illinois. He was just one year married to his lovely wife Ingrith. Some of you may know of his work in gymnastics & dance photography. He attended Luau #1 at Anaheim and maybe a few Sportsshooter members met him there...

Patrick possibly had a heart attack, but the doctors are still investigating. Friends did know of his heart problems, but it was not often. An avid runner, just days before he passed, he made a doctor's visit and checked out ok. At the moment there's just the family quote from the day after his passing that I wrote of in the news report at

From 1998 Goodwill Games through to the most recent World Championships at Rotterdam 2011, Patrick Tower cover world class gymnastics (rhythmic & artistic). Including as an EP photog at Athens 2004 Olympics for Cetate Media. In the small group that follows gymnastics, Patrick's work was well known and respected. Patrick's editorial clients included: USA Gymnastics Magazine, International Gymnast, Sports Illustrated for Women, Real Sports, Dance Spirit, and USA Today. Commercial clients included Longines Watches and more gymnastic federations (Ukraine, Great Britain).

Patrick made great studio images of dance and the major stars of rhythmic gymnastics including Tamara Yerofeeva and Anna Bessonova of Ukraine (marque poster image Anna for Deriugina Cup 2003)
We were hotel roommates at many major championships and whew, I will miss my friend very much. Tom Theobald

->> Very sorry to hear this. A bitter reminder that none of us truly know how long we have left.

I did not know Patrick but it sounds like he was a fantastic individual and a great shooter...

I saw the Obit in the paper the other day and hesitated posting because even though we lived in the same Twin-Cities, I've never met Patrick. He moved here a few years ago and I knew of his work, but our paths never crossed.
