Any good service centers for out od warranty Nikon
Ron Hawkes, Photographer, Photo Editor

->> Looking to get some of my out of warranty Nikon equipment cleaned, minor repairs etc, and after sending my 70-200 to Melville on Nov. 18 and having it still in shop does not make this NPS member too impressed with their service.

Would like to find a place that sends an estimate and then actually fixes it and sends it out when it is approved.
Any suggestions. I live in Maine but don't really care about where I send stuff if they are good.
Thanks
Ron

I've spoken to midstate. Seems like a solid guy and I would consider them, but I have a friend who needs to move something soon and would rather ship closer to home (Phoenix AZ)

Max, apparently there's a place in Chandler, C.R.I.S. Camera Services, that is an Authorized Repair Center. I also thought Tempe Camera did repairs, but they're not listed.

->> Chris, I've heard of CRIS, and that was the first place I mentioned to my friend, however he told me they would have to send his lens in. My guess is he either called the wrong place, or his lens is jacked up in a specific "send to nikon, say a prayer" type manner...

TCR just sends stuff to Nikon. They do the same with Canon. I guess they stopped hiring techs or getting their current techs certified for that. I know Sparky, their old tech, can fix strobes though.

Thanks Chris.

->> I met this guy one day at some big event that NPS was at some 15-20 years ago (or maybe even longer). He was cleaning and repairing cameras for Nikon. We stayed in touch over the years and have become great friends. He is a trusted source for me and my Nikons and I know NPS trusts him too. His name is Berri Smith out of the Atlanta area and I know he would take great care of your gear!

Give him a try...
