->> Help.
This may not appeal to most of you out there in Sportshooter land, but please read on in case you do give a damn.
A brand new, just started this season, Pony baseball league has formed.
You say "So"!
This is different only because of a couple of reasons.
The league is called the Metropolitan Pony Baseball League, a start up, grass roots formation.
The league has been started by Alexis Lopez, a Los Angeles Police department officer. Based out of Echo Park area in Los Angeles, they rent their fields to play against other area pony league teams.
He went out and got financial donations from going door to door for his league, signing up kids him self, getting the league qualified for the Pony system, all on his own.
The whole idea for this league is to get potential gang bangers, and troubled kids off the streets and doing something constructive with their time.
This is where the story gets foggy for me, so bare with.
While at work, his pregnant wife was going to the bank to make a deposit for the league and was robbed at gun point.
The leagues money is basically gone.
I sit on the Board of Directors for the Hart Pony Baseball and Softball League http://www.hartbaseball.org/ here in Santa Clarita, California. We have taken the initiative to help this start up Pony league by donating what equipment, and uniforms we have, what fields can be used, what man power is willing to help.
I know for myself, my involvement with the league is all about the kids.
I am not there because I have a kid playing baseball...he has moved on. I am there, as are a lot of volunteers strictly for the kids. Love of the game encourages me to share what skill sets I have to see that the kids get a healthy experience out of Hart Pony.
The Metropolitan Pony Baseball League has a similar mission.
The kids in any city, world wide, in any circumstance should get a reason to try to help themselves if not for a life time, at least for a little while in a place where they can learn to make a difference in their lives, where people can help make a difference.
I am on the beginnings of learning more about this league, the man heading it up, and the goals he wants to achieve.
How can you help? Well of course money is always welcome, donations are a charitable deduction and checks can be sent to our league in care of the Metropolitan Pony Baseball League.
Another way you can help is probably more realistic.
Look in you garage or your storage area. Do you have dust collecting on baseball equipment that you know you will never use ever again? Balls, bats, catcher armor, cleats, hats, jerseys, pants, bags ect., ect..
Come on people, they play baseball in a lot of countries. The rules may be different, but the gear is the same.
You can contact me here on Sportshooter for shipping info. I will receive your gifts with a loud "THANK YOU" and give the equipment to the league.
Or you can contact http://www.hartbaseball.org/ (Hart Pony Baseball and Softball League) in care of Julie Cashion, or Thom Marshall...
OR you can call their Executive Board President directly if you choose...

Please look in your hearts and in your garage to help out.
Thanks for your time. |

Just email me for my address, and anything can be shipped directly to me.
