->> I have gone to all but 2 in the past 14 years and help organize it. So, my comments maybe biased.

I can tell you I have paid my own way every time but once when my employer Georgia Tech sent me in the early 90s.

I like the fact that meals are included in the price on Saturday and when you break out from the speakers you get to sit with others from all over the world and often with the speakers and chat about whatever is on your mind.

Scott Strazzante will talk with us about covering your local community, and giving those assignments your unique perspective.

The changes we are all facing in this world of visual communication will be the focus of Billy Calzada’s presentation. He will also be giving us a glimpse at the impact of the work we do from the subject's viewpoint.

Bill Fortney will speak about personal photographic projects to be a source of growth both photographic and personally. Come and be inspired and touched as Bill shares what he learned about our country and himself throughout the 14th month project taking him to all 4 corners of America.

Share in the discovery of places of great historical significance and immense beauty and personal revelation.

Ashlie White will be discussing how multimedia has enhanced the photojournalist's ability as a storyteller. She will also discuss different technology and the importance of taking audio we gather as serious as the photographs we take.

Stanley Leary will talk about how he has built a photography business that’s been successful, with income rising 20% on average each year since 2001 when he went full-time as a freelancer. Last year 2008, he had a 53% increase over the previous year. He plans to share some of his techniques on how he did it.

We also have Nikon coming with their clean and check. Canon will be there as well. Chick-fil-A will be providing one of the meals this year.

Please pass this information on via every medium you have.

See you there.

->> As of this afternoon we have 93 folks preregistered. Take a second look at the website http://www.swpjc.org.

Speakers are listed, schedule is listed, on news page what is being covered, hotel information and more.

We still have room.

Now if you want to coordinate with others and carpool or find someone to share a hotel try our facebook page out

We know things are very tight for lots of folks. Most of us realize how important it is to get together and just have folks who we can talk to that understand. Hard to do in small towns with very few other photographers around.

Come and make some new friends.

To get the most out of this weekend, I recommend coming prepared. Bring a stack of business cards to give out. If you don't have any you can go the office supply store and get some that you can run through a printer and they are perforated so you can easily separate them later. You need a phone number, email address and maybe a website in my opinion. This will keep you from having to write this down or have folks make a mistake writing it down to contact you later. Bring a portfolio of your work to show others.

Don't forget we have 2-minute show for the first 45 to sign up. You get to show everyone your work. The instructions on how to do this are on the website.
