| ->> If it looks to good to be true. IT IS!!!! You cannot sell cameras for below cost with out some gimmick. I know, I used to sell cameras over twenty five years ago. The methods have not changed, just the buying method or lack thereof. Can we all say BAIT and SWITCH, sell the battery, strap,cf card and software cd separately? Or gray market, no US warranty. That's a $500.00 dollar camera that sells for $500.00 Canon's dealer outlets are not having a problem selling that camera for that price point, even in this bad economy. Call em up and see how much time you spend on the phone with a sales person and they still won't sell you (just the camera.) Sorry if looks as if I'm venting, because I am. I like a good deal as much as the next person, but this is not a deal without strings attached. IMHO. |

| ->> Juerg, thanks for the post. Matt, don't think my post is any reflection on your ability to spot a real deal. It's just that I have seen allot of these posts on the message boards lately and it surprises me how much people fall for this crap. Their is one good thing that comes from this. People are finding out about the ripoff artists out there. so I guess I shouldn't complain so much. |

->> Is it just me, or do we have these threads at least once a week?
And in every one of the threads, somebody posts about spending your money with the sponsors of this site. There's a reason people go back to Samys, Roberts and Adorama time and time again. The customer service is great and you don't get screwed over. |

Trust that little voice in your head that gave you pause enough to ask the question on Sports Shooter in the first place.
If you still don't know, check out the Don Wiss site and think of whether or not you'd buy from the place if you walked in.

->> "comes with a warranty... so I'm tempted..."
Haha, WOW. The gullibility of people sometimes ceases to amaze me.
'Hey, that creepy man with a knife in his back pocket wanted us to go take us for a ride in his van! We were going to say no, but he offered us CANDY!!!'
*rolls eyes* |

->> this reminds me of a great scene from Tommy Boy courtesy of imdb:
Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Go on, I'm listening.
Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to fell all warm and toasty inside.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Yeah, makes a man feel good.
Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?
[chuckles until he sees that Ted is not laughing too]
Ted Nelson, Customer: [impatiently] What's your point?
Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy; well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser, and your daughter's knocked up. I seen it a hundred times.
Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?
***Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of sh*t. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me. ***
Ted Nelson, Customer: [pause] Okay, I'll buy from you. |
