More ridiculous news of the world....

| ->> Yeah right. But he'll get traction and mileage unfortunately. I mean, hey, he's Joe the Plumber isn't he. |

| ->> He's a Christian so he'll be safe. I don't know, rockets and missiles fired at you are pretty indiscriminate when it comes to religious beliefs, they have this nasty tendency to blow up whatever they hit, regardless of who they may worship. |

| ->> Colter, you may not agree with Joe the Plumber's politics, but is it really necessary to mock the man's religious faith? |

->> Luke, I don't believe he was mocking the man's religion. He was mocking what he said:
"Is he scared that one of the Hamas rockets might have his name on it? Not really. After all, as he explained, he's a Christian so God will keep him safe.
"Being a Christian I'm pretty well protected by God I believe," he said."
Plenty of Christians have been killed in war, I'm sure many of them were as faithful or more than Mr. Wurzelbacher. |

->> Luke -
What's amazing me about this, is that this is nothing more than a publicity stunt - and everyone's falling for it. How many people have even heard of this website that is sending him over?
This has nothing to do with journalism, it's all about web traffic.
Seems to me right now it's a brilliant move on their part...in part because forums like this and every media outlet running the story are spreading the word - and driving traffic to their site.
Ignore it, and it gets zero traction. |

->> Let's see ... what kind of quality reporting can we expect from a plumber? Let's just say I'd keep a set of hip waders in the bathroom of any home in which the toilet was installed by a war correspondent.
Of course, my logic flies in the face of that of Gannett, which believes that its photographers should also be able to write stories even when they have had no training as a reporter. That's why, at the Gannett paper where I used to be a part-timer, we had a front-page story called "Field of Hockey Dreams" by an excellent photographer who didn't know he was writing about lacrosse.
You get what you pay for. |

When I read that article, I think,
"who freak'n cares" and move on. |

->> Colter and Walter, it's an interesting edit to the story, since they cut out the second part of his quote...
...Wurzelbacher told WNWO he’s not worried about the potential dangers of his new gig. "Being a Christian I'm pretty well protected by God I believe. That's not saying he's going to stop a mortar for me, but you gotta take the chance,” he told the CNN affiliate...
I love how people can read into something and automatically assume that the guy's a crazy religious type... |

->> A publicity stunt by someone who has overstayed his 15 minutes of fame. The first time any sort of explosive device goes off this guy is going to soil his shorts.
As for the average Israeli and telling their story; Joe had better wake the heck up. The average Israeli, regardless of gender gets to spend quality time in the IDF - the Israeli Defense Forces.
Can Joe cite any previous military experience?
The world is usually not kind to those who try to extend their 15 minutes of fame. It's a frigging WAR ZONE and Joe wants to go play war correspondent?? This guy is an idiot if he doesn't appreciate how dangerous this could be *IF* he is in the middle of some action.
Stick to plumbing Joe, it's bound to be a lot safer. IF you're stupid in plumbing, you could end up ankle deep in S**T. In a war zone, you can end up in some real, seriously deep and potentially deadly S**T. |

| ->> C'mon, guys - if they're not letting legitimate journalists anywhere near Gaza, do you really think he has any chance of covering the actual war? Let's not legitimize this any more than it should be - which is to say, not at all. |

->> Why wouldn't the Israeli authorities let him into the conflict? He's got the All Mighty on his side! Grin.
The money backing Joe's All Might Adventure is very legitimate. Perhaps he's planning on landing on the beaches of Gaza in a Swift Boat? HA! |

| ->> My definition of a "Joe the Plumber", or "Joe the Photographer", or "Joe the whatever the hell", would be a guy who just goes out and does his job, works hard, is honest, keeps his opinions of other people to himself and doesn't really like to call attention to himself. . I never trusted whatever his name is and his motives. First, we hear about all his lies about not being a plumber, cheating on his taxes, or that his real name isn't even Joe, then he starts running his mouth all over the media waves with his right-wing drivel, and now he's trying to extend his 15 minutes with this war correspondent thing. You know what Joe? you're a fraud and you don't represent all the Joe's out there. Average, hard working Americans ain't like this. |

->> I'd have more respect for Joe the Plumber if he went to Iraq and help the Iraqi people rebuild their infrastructure, putting his knowledge to good use.
That's what the real Joe the Plumber is doing, I know this because that's my friend over there and he's a plumber! |

| ->> doug, sorry bro, but I hope you were being facetious with that comment because there are LOTS of people left in the world to uphold journalism standards. I hope to God you realize when you write drivel like this prospective clients might go " what the hell, this guy doesn't believe in any kind of standards or ethics". sorry brother BUT there are a crapload of people out here who BELIEVE in journalism standards. |

Wait, when did we get anything but the Israelis' point of view? This guys just a joke and a liar, only advice for him is to buy land there and don't come back. |
