People have been talking a lot over the past year about the decline of the quality member on sportsshooter- but this is just ridiculous.
Chris Ivin’s latest update is made up of tight crotch shots from a bikini contest? What the hell? And three shots in a row? Motor drive on a crotch?
Not that I am offended by beautiful girls, but I feel sleezy looking at these photos on SS.
There is always one guy at these events that always has the long lens out and you can only guess what he is shooting. Gross, get a life.
I emailed him and did not hear back.
SportsShooter at a new low? I don’t consider this quality content. |

->> Not to mention the Fetish Fair shot you have a shot of a person doing one of the most taboo subjects in America. One so unacceptable that no advertiser would dare to use and is even rarely used by motion pictures any longer. How dare you post a shot of a person smoking a cigarette!!
I'm not really serious. I have no problem with the cig shot but then I also don't have a problem with a close up shot of a bikini that looks like it is made from green beans. For me, it was not close up enough because I still really can't tell what the heck its made of.
Lighten up Francis. |

Brett may have never seen a woman in a bikini. I mean he's from Canada. Certainly not known as the bikini capitol of the Planet Earth. Brett, may I suggest you go to a mall and check out a Victoria's Secret. I mean, she was once was the Queen of England. Their clothes are a bit risque.... Crap, lighten up. It's friggin Christmas. |

Frankly, I'm trying to imagine any woman wanting to wear the Brazilian bikini shown in Chris' images. Well may be the bikinis in frame 8 & 9.
Perhaps all that green, fake vegetable like matter is to conjure up the Amazon rainforest?
It's probably me, but I don't like green, fake vegetable like matter on bathing suits.
Chuck, you like the green, fake vegetable matter? Didn't know Queen Victoria was into green, fake vegetable matter. Learn something new every day.
Brett, perhaps if there where white, fake icicle matter hanging off the bikinis you'd like the shots better? |

…I have found with threads such as this, that (a) women rarely if ever post to them and that (b) none of the men that do find anything innately wrong with the fact that the images in question serve no purpose other than to objectify the women in them.
Let’s spin this a little; if the images in the subject gallery were those of black men being beaten, would the comments be, ‘Get a life, they’re just black guys?’ Not likely. There would be outrage because it’s simply wrong. However, these are just images of the body parts of scantily clad women. Not people. Just objects. Just tits & ass. So it’s okay.
There was a thread not long ago which spoke about a reporter who was hit by small arms fire while covering the uprising in Georgia. The reporter happened to be a woman, and apparently the fact that she was good looking was more important that she was a working journalist who was shot.
It’s in no small wonder that women don’t post to these threads; they’re looking at the comments made, rolling their eyes and having reinforced for them that men don’t get it and that as a group…we’re idiots. They don’t even need to do any of the work; it’s handed to them.
Apparently, you’re not a man if don’t think it’s okay to just look at a woman as though she were a piece of meat. As a society, is it really going to take us as long to realize that it’s not okay to objectify women as it did for us to acknowledge that it’s not okay to beat a black man simply because he’s black?
Think about it. Even for a just second.
It’s not okay… |

I'm agape. (at least I think I am)
I think these shots were from a fashion show. Typically, and personally, MEN don't give a poop for fashion.
The validity of the point (arguable in my opinion) is completely lost by the incredible analogy.

Are you seriously trying to compare starring at a woman that is willingly participating in a bikini fashion show to watching a person get beat because of the color of their skin?
Is it right to objectify women as a whole? No. Is it o.k. to enjoy the view of your Hooters waitress? Yes.
Sometimes I think the only thing worse than objectifying women as a whole is belittling them by implying they need a knight in shinning armor to protect them... especially on a pretty tame forum message board.
Just my humble opinion. |

->> Attention Jon, please report back to earth.
This is a fashion show. These are big events in that industry. The pieces of meat you mention are getting paid, in many cases very, very well. Not beaten or injured in any way unless it was at the Fetish Fair from the OP's images and even those models did it because they applied for the job.
They worked very hard to get in that show. It is an incredibly demanding business and is also a burning in the gut dream for MANY girls across the world. You think competition is fierce in the photography world it does not hold a candle to the modeling industry.
Who are you to label their dream "Not people. Just objects. Just tits & ass." Participating in that show is now a resume item for a model. For her, it is a big deal. You act like she should feel the need to put on a big red letter.
Before you jump to the defense of the poor exploited runway models you might first ask them if they want your soap box. If you ask nicely she might only charge you $200 per hour to take her picture.
"if the images in the subject gallery were those of black men being beaten . . ."

->> Jeff...
That you believe this has anything to do with fashion actually makes my point.
Scott...
Do you think that your Hooters waitress actually had as her career goal when she was a 12 year old girl to serve you your wings & beer in a tight little t-shirt for your entertainment? What about your sister, or your wife? How about a chain of restaurants called 'Packages' when the table servers are men in Speedos. Would that be okay?
To infer that I am attempting to be a 'knight in shining armor' to protect women from being objectified confirms my point that they are in fact being objectified and need someone to stand up and say something. I have no delusions that I'm going to change the world, but that doesn't mean I have to like everything about the one I live in.
Kevin...
I'm very firmly grounded on earth, thanks. Women can and do make their own choices. The fact that any woman would even have to make some of these choices illustrates a major flaw in our culture. Ask yourself WHY it's a big dream for "girls around the world' to become a model in the first place. Women very frequently get into modeling because our society has taught them that their value is in their body; show some of this, wiggle some of that & get paid for it. That it pays a lot of money doesn't justify it.
Do you think that the cosmetic surgery industry has boomed into what it is today because women want to get breast implants, for example, to make themselves feels better about who they are, or because men have told them that they need a bigger bust to have value as a person?
A 2007 RADAR magazine survey showed that 66% of those asked felt that The Pussy Cat Dolls have done more to empower women than Condoleezza Rice; perhaps Ms. Rice should step it up a little and show some skin while dumbing herself down a bit...
That the reactions to my post are telling me that there's something wrong with me are telling me.....it's not me. |

No women had to make these choices. That's what makes them choices.
66% of those asked felt that The Pussy Cat Dolls have done more to empower women than Condoleezza Rice;
Never heard of the pussy cat dolls but if they are empowering women, good for them. I wasn't aware they needed empowering.
I don't know the first thing about fashion. Jeans and t-shirts is about all I do. BUT id did appear to be a FASHION SHOW.
By the way, I love the reasoning....."the fact that you disagree proves my point" (yeah, I know it's not a direct quote...paraphrased)
I wouldn't be chomping at the bit to get my wings at "Packages", but I'm sure the get a good crowd of women. Ever hear of the Chipendales. They played to packed houses for years.
I've never told a women she needs bigger boobs for any reason. Don't particularly care for bigguns.
But check the point of my post........TO COMPARE THIS TO BEATING A PERSON FOR WHAT EVER REASON kills your credibility. JMO |

I'm sure we will just need to agree to disagree but I will give it one more try.
I am not embarrassed that I find the female anatomy to be stunning... both in parts and as a whole. I also love the female mind, heart and spirit. I believe they are strong, capable human beings that don't need my help to have a great life.
That you are attempting to be a knight in shinning armor doesn't prove they need help... it just proves you view them as victims. "Those poor women... they aren't smart enough or strong enough to know society has forced them to work at Hooters or perform on the catwalk."
If my daughter told me she was getting a job at Hooters I will tell her to be polite, don't take crap from anyone and be sure to put a third of each pay check into savings.
If my son told me he was getting a job at Packages I would tell him to be polite, don't take crap from anyone and be sure to put a third of each pay check into savings.
I know your intentions are good and honorable... I just don't think everyone else needs to be sent to the shed. |

My stepdaughter works at Hooters. She's done extremely well by them - makes significantly more than her peers(I did her taxes last year and was impressed), was sent to St. Thomas for a month last year over winter break (expenses paid) to help open a store, made several other trips at their expense, and is heading to Germany at the end of January for a week on an appearance tour with them. She was just named their Girl of the Year, and has a host of appearances lined up. She also models (fee based) and has done several calendars. All while carrying an A average in math at a Big 12 University. She's considering either an on-going career with them (likely in marketing) or seeking a job as an actuary.
She doesn't need a knight in shining armor to protect her. She does quite well on her own and has found the experience quite empowering. |
