| ->> nbc news just ran a wide shot on the nightly news tonight of bernie madeoff of the greatest ponzi scheme infamousy. it showed a shoving match between him and a shooter as he is leaving court during his appearance today on his bond hearing. They shoved each other hard back and forth. it looked ugly. |

->> That's MADOFF
as in 'Made Off" with the money
the crook gets home detention surrounded by all his home comforts
a kid from inner Baltimore steals a TV, he sits in a cold jail cell |

->> It looks like a late hit...i.e. the photographer got pushed and then a few seconds later the shooter tried to get his licks in.
Agreed though...unprofessional. Just take the hit, take your shots, move on... |

->> I'm sure a number of his investors would love to get their licks in too.
Hey it's New York, people shove a lot more than that to get on and off the subway.
Looks like Bernie started with a little push, and then the photographer wrongly pushed back much harder. Knowing how the New York street scene goes, I'm sure Bernie ain't going to press charges.
Just don't get in a pushing match with the shoppers at Macy's if you know what's good for you. |

| ->> This guy ruined countless lives he took money from anyone not just the ultra rich. The biggest crime is when convicted he will not go into a jail with common criminals but will go into a county club prison. The bastard should get life no parole and a large roommate in prison. |

| ->> The photographer is probably paparazzi.... Unless there's reason to suspect otherwise, I'm totally unsurprised - someone wanted him to act/look violent, and the easiest way is to start it yourself. Those guys don't go with the NPPA's morals. |

->> Geez talk about being in someone's face! That would be quite frustrating to have 10 people right in your face with flashes, mic's and cameras all asking questions.
Seemed like some unprofessional reporting going on there. |

->> I don't care how many people's lives he ruined, yes it's bad and there's a lot of scams going on, but as photographers on assignment we shouldn't care.
I have to get the shot of Hillary Clinton or a convicted molester regardless, but I'm not going to MAKE the shot happen, I'm going to GET the shot.
A cool, telling shot would have been a wide frame of him walking down the street with the huge mass of journalists trying to get at him. To me, that tells the intensity of the story, instead of him looking angry. Wait for court for those shots. |

->> In looking at the two videos posted, it seemed like Madoff was just trying to get through the crowd and the photographer shoved him twice. So while in the big picture Madoff is the jerk, in this instance it seems to be the photog who's the jerk.
I'm glad I've never had to get a shot in a scrum like that. |

->> That is just a ridiculous couple of shoves by the photographer. I dont care who or what the person he was photographing did, but shoving to get his shot was way over the line.
Paparazzi already gives us a bad name. We dont need anymore bad light on our industry. |

->> In the CNBC video linked on PDNPulse (http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=969082006&play=1) you get a pretty good view of the shover's face about five seconds in. Compare to Stapleton's bio pic at http://www.shannonstapleton.com.
On a separate note, from my perspective shoving a subject is on par with adding smoke or basketballs to photos. Worse, actually.
As I suggested above, it's no wonder that the general public makes no distinction between photojournalists and paparazzi. |
