Amvona ripping me off...anyone else?

->> Just wondering if anyone has had issues in the past when dealing with this company.

I ordered a reflector and stand from them back in September which was in stock when i purchased it. Several weeks went by and I decided to fallow up and come to find out it was on backorder (no big deal, I'm in no hurry). Several MORE weeks when by and i decided to shoot them an email asking about my order. I got the following response:

"The item you purchased was on backorder and we will no longer be carrying that item. The replacement for that item will be in the end of November. You may upgrade to that reflector and stand for $70."

Keep in mind that my credit card was charge $60 back in September. Now come to find out they were never even going to ship me the item I paid for, instead they want another $70. I asked them to refund my account or send me the replacement item with no additional charge. They said they normally don't credit accounts back but they will try their best to "push it through."

Are you kidding me?!?!?!

It has been a good 3 weeks since I've heard anything, I'm going to try and call them on Monday. Anybody have any advice or experience dealing with this company?

Your absolutely correct, but some companies do it anyway and that bugs me. I've ordered once from Amvona's ebay site and received the item. They should send you the upgrade. It's not your fault they are out of the advertised item. X2 your credit card company will take care of the issue if you dispute the charge.

->> I've ordered several items from Amvona. Most of the items are very poor quality and do not hold up over time. I've ordered strip boxes, camera bags, a tripod that was supposed to be a fluid head but was not fluid at all, and a backpack. The price is incredibly good from the ebay store, but I'm afraid the quality is as bad as it gets. I only say this because I have had the strip boxes rip at the seams, the camera bag's strap is in shreds, the tripod is not fluid. As far as receiving items, I've never NOT received anything from them. I would do what everyone else recommends and dispute the charge with your credit card company. Don't wait for Amvona to act.

->> Get your money back. Don't bother with the replacement. I've purchased 4 separate items from them and each one has been of shockingly bad quality. I should know better. Spend a little more and buy good stuff from SS sponsors that will last for years, not for days.

->> There is a reason people keep saying use our sponsors. I use Jody and Christy at Roberts, if I have a problem I make one phone call and then, no more problem. Generally we get great prices with our sponsors and if they do not have the best price it will get evened out over the long haul. That is what happens when you foster a long term relationship. Call the credit card company andget your moneyback.

->> I thought it was just hype that people bashed Amvona quality until it happened to me as well. I should have listened. I had a leg fall right out of one of their "high end" carbon tripods and they had no interest in helping me with the problem (not even replacement parts at my own expense!). Dispute the charge and move on to another retailer before throwing more money at a problem. Good luck.

FYI...I've never had a bad experience with any of the SS sponsors.

->> Give them a chargeback... They'll end up having to pay a pretty significant fee to their card processor because of it.

I usually avoid doing chargebacks because of this, as most merchants don't intentionally do things like this, but if they think a refund is at their convenience?

Maybe they need to learn their lesson.

Hopefully not a expensive lesson for you, Adam. Charge back the product on your credit card and move on.
