->> Thank you for posting this.
It points out just how ridiculous the rant against the Nikon D3X is.
With Washington DC printing money like it is going out of banking and insurance business style, not to mention conducting a war without any sacrifice by the American people, our dollar is becoming "play money."
The rest of the world has to increase prices because our dollar isn't worth as much as 8 years ago.
We are a credit card nation who has reach its maximum charge limit.
Once our deficit gets back to the 1999 level, perhaps camera prices will decline.
Meanwhile, the D3X is a hell of a camera when compared to the Canon 1D mk III. Canon and Nikon should be proud of their unique contributions to the photography industry. Sony, too, should be honored, even though their camera isn't in the same league. |

and if you can't handle foul language or have no interest in football don't bother watching it. |

in the age of The Bild giving out cameras, cell phone video and pictures are "good enough"....... why do they keep giving us more and more resolution?
I say screw the pixel packing and give me more bit depth.

(Or maybe it means Roberto spends waaaaaay too much time on YouTube at night!)
I did received a very pointed email from a very good friend of mine that finds the clip and its use in various parodies offensive.
Oh well ... as I replied to my friend: I really needed a laugh. |

->> Jeff,
I don't think it is that hard to laugh.
I am Jewish, I feel free strongly about the atrocities committed by Hitler and army. I also can find humour in this. I can find humour in the Family Guy when they poke fun at Hitler.
Look at the work of Mel Brooks. He is Jewish, yet Hitler has been used as a joke in many of his films, and it is funny.

->> Why some people find this clip offensive is because Hitler and Stalin where two of the most evil men of the 20th Century.
These two were responsible for more mass murder, and the systematic destruction of generations of lives, resulting in terrible suffering never seen on this scale before.
Yes the clip is inappropriately funny, but be mindful that there are people who are members of this forum who had their families murdered by these two men.
To equate the pricing of a camera to the complete horror Hitler and Stalin brought to this world cheapens the lives lost in the Holocaust and gulags.
I do not find it cool forgetting a single life lost by Hitler. My Uncle Harry, God rest his soul, fought across North Africa, Italy, France and Germany to put an end to Hitler, risking his life to achieve that goal so we can live in freedom to make parodies.
What I find funny are those who still think the Canon 1Ds mk III isn't more of a waste of good money over the more expensive Nikon D3X. That's funny. |

->> why can't we all just get along? if you read the message boards here, time after time people are ranting, raving and trashing the two systems this is a funny clip that BOTH camps can enjoy. for those offended, maybe you can take solace in the fact that if hitler were alive it would really piss him off to be made fun of in this simple, trivial way. I would also offer up the opinion that this clip might not be very funny to anyone who isn't a photographer...I'm sure many of my friends who aren't shooters wouldn't get it. again, mitchell, thanks for the posting. |

->> I'm not Jewish, though I'm mistaken for one frequently. That qualifies me to have my own uninformed opinion on the subject.
Jewish entertainers tell "Jew jokes" all the time. Black entertainers use the "n" word. Few gentiles are allowed to get away with telling "Jew jokes" (or make joking Hitlerian references) just as few white entertainers can get away with the "n" word (unless you're Lisa Lampanelli). What does this mean? I have no idea.
First...this really isn't all that funny, is it? I mean...OK, yeah, I get it. And I'm the kind of guy who thinks South Park is funny. I just don't think this was all that funny (and I even truly get the Ken Rockwell joke, since Ken has been extolling the virtues of film of late).
On the other hand, I thought Dwight's adaptation of a Mussolini speech for the salesman of the year award on "The Office" was a classic...as was Seinfeld's "we must take over Poland" speech by Elaine's boss (don't quite remember all the details of that one).
The upshot to all of this? Some people are easily entertained. Others are easily offended. It's when you can do both that you are truly gifted. |
