New RadioPoppers on the way
Adam Cairns, Photographer

->> Not quite in time for the holiday season, but they should be ready in January. Apparently the fiber optic cord is gone, and they will work with both TTL and non-TTL strobes simultaneously. Full details will emerge on Dec. 12.

->> Thanks Adam, that's an interesting development.

I haven't quite figured Radio Poppers out... on the surface it seems like a brilliant idea, but I haven't heard much buzz about them and they haven't generated the excitement I initially thought they would.

->> it would be awesome if the new gen ones came with a manual trigger out (like a wizard). That way you could use them with non TTL flashes. It would put them into the pocket wizard market.

->> Same here, I held off getting these back in the spring just because of the design, I did not think they would hold up to rough sports shooting abuse with the loose Fiber Optic cable. I really wanted these just for the ability to control all my strobes from a single unit. The new design says the cable has been removed..... so if these 2nd generation units are what they say the will be, I'll finally pull the trigger on these. I've been holding off getting PW since my less expensive ebay remotes are working fine for how I'm using them.

We will see what next Friday reveals,
Michael

->> You would think we would here some response from the Pocket Wizard folks now that Radio Poppers are getting some serious attention.

It would seem that partnering with Canon and Nikon to integrate PW technology would be a good first step. If they can make a slot in a Seknonic Light Meter for a PW mod you think this could be accomplished in a shoe mount flash.
