->> The "old" iMovie (from iLife 06) made it very simple to throw a little movie together. The newest version is much difficult. I can't even find special effects...speeding up the movie, sepia tone, etc. Am I missing something?

->> Robert,

iMovie 08 is not as intuitive(at least to me) and does not offer some of the same levels of control of the older version.

Did you install iLife 08 or did it come with a new computer? If you installed it over an older version from the iLife 08 disc then Apple seems to have realized that the '08 may not please everyone and the old version is left installed in your applications folder so you can use that.

->> robert,

i know what youre talking about. i started putting together quick deals with the older imovie and while the new one looks slicker, it IS harder to use.

that being said...

final cut pro! its really intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, youll never even think of opening imovie.

if KK ever retires im available! I know final cut well too! haha

good luck!

->> I've used both iMovies and like both for different reasons. I'm not going to say iMovie 08 isn't as good, it's just a different product altogether.

Before you tackle iMovie 08, go through Apple's tutorials and you'll learn a lot of the tips and tricks

->> I am pretty sure the 08 does not have the effects like slow mo and all that the 06 had.

When I got my latest MacPro and it had 08 on it I did not like the iMovie 08 as there is stuff you can't do anymore.

YOu can download the 06 version here:
