->> Corey --
It's not a new media/video journalism so much as a traditional film program (with quite a healthy dose of documentary work), but I love the program I'm in at American University down in DC. There have been some amazing opportunities floated my way since I started here, and though it's a ton of work, I'm loving every minute of it. We have both MA (production) and MFA (terminal/teaching in addition to production) programs, and am amazing faculty of documentary, environmental, wildlife and narrative storytellers.
We also have a masters program in interactive journalism, though I'm not exactly sure the coursework and also I think it's only offered as a 2-year weekend program.

->> For as much as it is sometimes bashed on these boards, Brooks has some really fantastic video classes as part of it's Visual Journalism program. I've seen some pretty amazing documentaries come out of that school. You learn everything from the technical stuff to storytelling, and editing. The amount of gear available for student use is really quite incredible.
My roommates are all film majors, and if I ever feel myself wanting to learn or practice more, I work on their feature film shoots. |

| ->> You don't need a college program to learn how to work a video camera. If you're serious about this craft, you're best in a film program. |

->> also talk to Jeremy Rue about the Knight School too, he's one of the multimedia training instructors at the school.
here is his SS.com page: http://www.sportsshooter.com/members.html?id=390
I know I've had plenty of questions about their program, as I'm looking into going to graduate school when I finish my BS next fall, Jeremy has been nothing but helpful to answer my questions about the school. He even sent me out a brochure letting me know when there were dates to come check out the school for myself. I'm a little bit closer than you are to Berkeley than you, but really its a beautiful place to head out too, if you are really interested in what seems like one of the best programs for this field out there. |
