->> I need to find a new webhost. Tired of the abysmal customer service of my current host (Earthlink). I've read a number of the threads that already exist on this topic but wanted to see if anyone had anything new to add. Maybe some of the folks that had to migrate from S2F?

I've pretty much narrowed it down to LunarPages, DreamHost and GoDaddy. So, quien mas macho?

I'm primarily interested in uptime and customer service. All their pricing is extremely reasonable.

Thanks!

->> From what I have heard Dream host is a nightmare and GoDaddy is way overpriced - aimed at the consumer market.

I have been happy with totalchoicehosting

for quite a few years now.

I've never heard of lunarpages...

Good luck,

EMI

Very reliable. My web teacher at school recommended it to me. He uses it for all of his web needs. They have a ton of flexible packages and 24/7 customer service.

You may want to take a look at Siteground.
http://www.siteground.com

I've been with them just over a year, their support is very good, my site,
http://www.imagesportnz.com has never had down time, and their pricing is excellent.

On a 2 year plan, you get 750gb of space, and 750gb of bandwidth per month, along with all the bells and whistles that you could want.

Jim

It is the best, bar-none. I started 2 years ago with 4096GB of Bandwidth per year, it's now over 7000. Now, there's no way I'll ever come near that, but if I ever do, my website will not be shut down, it will just bill the overage at 1 cent a gig...not bad. I have about 400GB of storage, which isn't bad. They also offer an automated backup service as well as a 'Files Forever' service which for 1 cent/4MB of data, they will permanently backup whatever you choose. It can be invaluable.

In addition to that, you get a boatload of automatic-installing software suites for free. You want WordPress? Click a button, fill out the details and it's done. No mess.

And the folks there are real, down-to-earth people. The quarterly newsletter is a hoot to read.

->> As for uptime, I've had my site go down once in 2 years. And that was for a server-migration they did to expand service. Total down time was like 4 hours, and you knew WEEKS in advance when and for roughly how long it would be.

I recently went with Network Solutions. Prices were very competitive, but more importantly, the customer service has been great. They've walked me through a few questions with ease.

Excellent uptime, great customer service and superfast server response times. Everything loads very, very quickly. Sure you don't get as much bandwidth and storage, but come on, how many people really need that much?

->> I second Jim on Siteground. I moved a site over there a year ago to test their less expensive service and they have been great. The cpanel rocks!

Lunarpages is where I host several other sites and they are reliable and the service is excellent. The great thing about Lunarpages is that you can call them and get a REAL LIVE PERSON to help you out. Great if you are not super techy.

GoDaddy has a cute name and all, but will not deal with you overseas which can be a problem if you travel internationally.

Good luck

->> Dreamhost is good - with a caveat. When you first sign up you may or may not get put on a server that is overloaded. Their customer service is very good, and they moved me to three different servers until I was happy. Now I'm in good shape.

Also if you sign up with dreamhost go ahead and do email with Google (it's part of the configuration dialog). Great spam filters and ultra-reliable mail.
