| ->> I've always enjoyed Brunas, 2424 S. Oakley Ave and 24th Place, 773-254-5550 . It's not directly convenient to the stadium, don't know what time you were planning on going. Its classic italian, decor needs updating but the food is very good, presentation is nice. Small, only about 15 tables. |

->> For great italian, go to La Scarola. Only about a 10 minute cab ride from the hotels around Millennium Park. Absolutely fantastic.

->> Some of the best Italian I've had is at a little family trattoria in Serre di Rapolano south of Siena. The chianti never stopped flowing.
But back to Chicago. I've eaten here, trust me it's worth it:

->> best deep dish in chicago is pequod's in the western side of lincoln park on webster and clyborn. don't go to uno's or due's because you'll get stuck with all the tourists in an hour wait for a table.
if you're going to go to a rosebud's, go to the one on taylor street near the university of illinois at chicago (UIC). more neighborhoody and local. the one on rush street is full of tourists.
look into tufano's, also near UIC. really great small italian restaurant in a small side street in a great local neighborhood. this is the regular eating spot for the likes of chicago power politician alderman ed burke. really great downhome dishes like chicken and italian sausages, big heaping pasta, etc...
if you want a super quick italian sub, go to bari's food on grand near racine in the near west side (just on the west side of the kennedy expressway). THE ABSOLUTE BEST ITALIAN SUBS IN THE CITY. it's in a tiny little italian grocery store. get the spicy italian or the prosciutto and mozzarella. these subs were THE staple for the weekend newsroom staff when i worked at the chi trib. we would all take turns making sandwich runs each weekend. |

->> Italian - Italian Village which is on Monroe or Gioco which is on Wabash.
Greek - Costas or Greek Islands which are on Halsted West of the Loop.
Steak - Gene and Georgettis which is on Franklin.
Pizza - Has to be Uno's or Due's
Breakfast has to be Lou Mitchell's which is on S. Des Plaines
I've never been impressed with the Billygoat. |

->> David, in the food department, I second everything that John Lee writes.
As for traffic, things start getting backed up around 10am and by 11am it's just plain ridiculous. I would aim to get to "Soldiers" by 9am and take a stroll along the lakefront.
See you on the sidelines, Scott |

| ->> I gotta second Lou Malnati's or maybe Giordano's for deep dish. Never had Pequod's but I'll be sure to try it when I'm back home. Either way, have a great time in Chicago. |

| ->> I second UNO's also Giordano's you can't leave without having a deep dish pizza. There is a famous hot dog place too but I not sure the name, maybe someone else will chime in. I only have been to Chicago twice, but the food at both places I mentioned was amazing! Enjoy the windy city. |

| ->> If you go to Giordano's, be sure to get "stuffed" pizza. Also understand that you will get stuffed eating it! I also have to agree that Pequod's is really good. I assume the one in the city is as good as the one in Morton Grove. |
