->> I need something big enough for a 400 2.8 & a D3 and it needs to have tough wheels for sports fields (gravel, dirt, etc).

Any suggestions ?

Thx

->> Lowepro Roller 3 works great for me. Takes tons of abuse....concrete curbs and sidewalks, dirt and gravel from playing fields and parking lots, steps in the NYC subway and bus system, airports....you name it. The bag hasn't skipped a beat and I've had it for years. I find the bag pretty stable when full. Easily holds two Mark II bodies, 400 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 16-35 2.8, a flash or two plus batteries and all the photo accessories you can imagine like a pair of remotes, safety cables and arms when needed. The only problem with this bag is that when it full it's really heavy....but that is the downside of any well made big bag. It's also got a highly functional mono/tripod holder on the side.

I think the Roller 2 is smaller, holds a little less (but still easily fits the 400 2.8) and is equally well made. Check them both out.

Good luck.

->> I will second the Airport Security from Think Tank. Great bag. I have been using it for a D3 and 400mm F2.8 + laptop and there's still room. It's also easy to secure.

Good luck

->> Well if Ben's post gets an "huh" I'm sure this suggestion will no doubt be deemed "off topic" or perhaps "inappropriate" lol

Never the less, depending on how often you'll need a roller, a more economical suggestion is simply to pack some of your existing bags into a normal rolling suitcase, which is what I do.

Football season is really the only time I need to cover long distances from the car to the stadium, and where I'm carrying several bodies, big glass etc.

So for me, a bag like the Think Tank just really wouldnt see enough use to be worth the rather high cost.

Instead I just took an old roller suitcase I had and packed it with a camera backpack and shoulder bags. Holds a 400, couple of bodies, still has the padded dividers and didn't cost me anything. You can buy some cheap rollers at Walmart etc for around $40, and everyone has a few various size camera bags laying around I'm sure.

As I said, its not a solution that I'd want to use on a daily basis but for 7 home games a year its served me quite well the past few years.

Just a low cost option, otherwise I'd suggest the Think Tank bag as well, its very well made and thought out.
