Write us back here and tell us all about it. |

->> I believe that the vests are a requirement, much like the NFL and the red vests.
Kodak is the one name visible on the vest on the left pocket.
Money talks, BS walks. |

->> The vests are required wearing to take photos in a venue.
They are numbered and are tied to your name. Kodak has long been the sponsor and responsible for giving out the vests to photographers. This is their last Olympics though so look for a new sponsor in Vancouver.
The vests this year are decent, they are better than the thick, very heavy ones in Athens that were a dark greenish/blue that seemed to attract the sun. I swear if you were standing in the shade the vest would cause sunlight to bend and shine directly on you -- kind of like a black hole.
In Athens many photogs started cutting the bottom of the vest off to reduce the volume and heat trapping abilities.
Track starts here on Friday so that's when these vests will really get the comfort test.
These are actual photo vests unlike the ones handed out by the NFL so they have all the pockets and padding and strings and stuff you have no idea what they are for unless you are a regular vest wearer. |

->> And I can't admit to loving it.
It's nice when not carrying a lot of gear -- like to water polo -- to be able to tuck a lens or converter in the vest and not have tons of pouches, belts etc.
But, I haven't worn a vest since I first tried one some 20+ years ago in college and I don't like wearing them but when you are required you got no choice.
I'm getting to be more of a minimalist. Give me a couple bodies with lenses and maybe a pouch on the belt for a lens or convert and I'm off. I would envy Burnett with his Speed Graphic and one other body or so but I now much prefer carrying a few CF cards rather than 4X5 holders. |

->> sorry I guess I'm so retro old school (sydney olympics) the vests were okay. just like being at home.....the plastic POOL on the back seemed to absorb the sun but hey, who gave a sh&t!
it said POOL!!! I could go where I wanted..lots of pockets...I still have it. don't use it but I have some friggin great memories..I'm obviously not good enough to be in beijing BUT that's OK....right? I'm more than happy to be where I am....... 8) |

->> The Beijing Olympic vest comes with a special chipset that allows the authorities to mime the photographs made by each photographer if it is deemed that the photographs are not beautiful enough.
What's the frequency Kenneth? |

->> I found it funny seeing all the photogs in the vests, especially after the vests were given such a bad deal here on SportsShooter.
I'm sure e-bay will be full of vests once the games are over. |

Yes, but if memory serves, the mosquitoes are big as Red-Tail Hawks, and swarm like a pack of wolves. At least they were at Kitty Hawk. |

Since the wind never stops blowing at Kitty Hawk, the bugs have to be big in order not be carried away.
And they say there is no evolution. |

Chuck - If the glass is half full, you must be pouring. Whenever I'm drinking, it looks half empty.
To get back on topic. I seriously doubt anyone will sell their photo vest on E-bay. How long it will take until knockoffs are available is another matter.
Ben. Temporarily on a bugless [for now, 15-20 mile an hour winds do that] Hatteras Island. |
