Media Rights take 2

->> Hello everyone, I am sure you remember the situation I found myself in a few weeks ago with a Media waiver that showed up 2 days prior (one business day prior) to the event with a lot of major restrictions.
The event organizers SEEM to be recognizing the error of their ways and have been working with some of the receptive photographers to help develop a good plan, early, for next year.
I am one of the few that is willing to participate and they have asked that we review their media waiver and make suggestions or provide an acceptable waiver for the event.
Here is the problem. In the cycling industry I have never been required to sign any rights away as a photographer and therefore have minimal experience with the media waivers that are out there. Their primary interest is to protect the right to their television coverage and to have the sole video year end review distribution. I am not sure how to approach this request and I would like to see what you guys may be able to suggest. Also if you have an example of an acceptable waiver for a motor sports event.
If you have experience in this area I would definitely appreciate assistance! |

->> Josh refer them to the NPPA or EP or one of the other groups that can look at the issue on a larger 'industry' scale. At the least seek if the regional NPPA person will get involved.
Just my thoughts, I wouldn't want to be the one involved and have all the PJ's pissed off that I missed something or left something out due to inexperience.
Good Luck |

->> Eric,
Thanks, That is a perfect suggestion and they are now the first on my list to contact.
At this point I don't think that I could possibly get any Pj's pissed at me considering the state of the current agreements. I am going to try to cover every base and talk to every person I can to get this going in the right direction. |
