Anyone going to be blogging from Beijing?
Patrick Smith, Student/Intern, Photographer
Towson | MD | USA | Posted: 9:57 PM on 07.30.08
->> Since I'll be sitting from the comfort of my home in America when not shooting this August, I was wondering if anyone will be blogging about their time in Beijing for the Olympics.

I ask this because not only did I see fellow SS member Zach Honig's behind the lens in Beijing blog (
http://beijing.popphoto.com/), but I'd love to hear about others experiences first-hand and see plenty of images that don't necessarily hit the sports sections from the Summer Games.

Blogs might get hit in someway.

->> Good luck and good writing to all of you credentialed photographers intending to "blog" while covering the Beijing Olympic Games.

In the past Olymics I have covered I've gone with the thought that I'd try to write something periodically throughout my coverage...but my desire to get some sleep and a decent meal always wins out.

An hour or two of more rest verses writing something...rest wins out for me.

Guess I'm getting old.

(Check out the sked for track & field ...some of us will be starting our day awfully early.)

I'll have a thing or two or three in Sports Shooter after I get home...and before the SSA Boot Camp.

->> slightly off topic but related: I had trouble accessing blog sites and some news sites on the web from my hotel rooms in China back in Nov/Dec 2006. However, I had great success accessing those blocked sites through the "anonymouse" site ( http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html ). Give it a try if you run into an internet road block.
