I use it as a cathartic release in that the images that I really like are seen somewhere. Even if its just by me and my friends. I'm not driving to market my blog beyond word of mouth and just taking good pictures. But it's more of a "just-for-me" thing than anything else. Most of my traffic consists of blog friends who I link to, or visitors directed to me via google or another search engine. You get a lot of traffic from searches on high school prep athletes. I occasionally tell someone I photograph that I have a blog, and I may post their picture to it. But for the most part I do it because a) I hate registration issues in the paper, b) the editors didn't like the artistic version of a news photo and ran with the boring man-doing-something or player-hitting-ball image instead.
