Macbook pro + Sandisk Extreme firewire reader ???
Scott Roeder, Student/Intern

->> I just got a new macbook pro and my sandisk extreme firewire card reader is not recognized when I plug it in. It worked on my older macbook pro and doesn't work on my new one. I found that there is a power problem for the firewire ports on newer macbook pros. Is anybody else having this problem with this combination of equipment?

->> Scott, I just dealt with a similar issue on a brand new macbook pro. Below is an email I sent to our IT department with the solution I found.

Apparently people have experienced this problem after making the latest system updates. My problem was related to the ports, both 400 and 800. To fix I
Disconnected all cables and power supply.
Zapped the pram – waiting for 3 chimes then let the machine load up
Then shut down and pulled the battery
Pressed and held down the power button for 5 sec.
Reinstalled battery, power and device cables
Restarted.
Everything loaded just fine after that.

->> I have the most recent Penryn 2.4 macbook pro and I haven't had any problems with the Sandisk reader. I've just plugged it in and it's worked every time.
