NP-E3 quick battery charger

I would love to have a charger for my 1DMKIIn batteries that isn't nearly the size of one of the rooms in my house! (I'm kidding --- the charger that comes with the camera isn't THAT big, but it's close).

This one doesn't have a refresh option, but I don't need that when traveling. This thing would sure be a lot easier to pack than the huge one from Canon.

Thanks for your help.

Bill

->> One of those came with my camera when I bought it used a few months ago. Frankly I find it to be a piece of crap. Its made of cheap plastic and the cord that connects it to the battery is short so when I plug it into a standard wall outlet the battery half dangles and and barely touches the floor. If you cant plug it into a the bottom outlet or have an outlet on a desk or something it will just dangle in the air.

->> A word of warning. Chargers that quick charge batteries tend to shorten the life of the battery significantly, especially with NiMH batteries. The slower the charge the happier your battery will be and healthier it will be as it grows older.

->> I am posting now because I got my charger in Aug 2007 from my local dealer in sunny Singapore, and two batteries in Jul 2007. I've hardly been shooting (since I'm working fulltime in insurance, not photography) ever since there and I am now pretty perturbed by two very quickly discharging batteries now as I am shooting at a seminar I'm attending (no, I'm an attendee, not the fulltime shooter).

Imagine running off less than 50 shots before the 1D (the 6 year old beast) tells me my fully charged batteries are EMPTY... when that same Camera Devices charger have indicated both my batteries are full.... less than 10 minutes after I've plugged it into the camera. Argh. Now I can't figure out which is the one at fault - the charger, the batteries (they're also by Camera Devices) or the 1D. Urgh.
