->> There is another recent thread about the Canon 1200 f/5.6 ...

I have used this lens several times... from the outfield for the World Series and at a couple of Summer Olympic Games.

The case that CPS had it in was like a casket ... handles on all four corners ... and they supplied a very heavy duty Gitzo tripod you had to use with it.

It was incredibly sharp, but unwieldy. The size and weight made it difficult to use, but if you were strong enough, you could follow the action ... like a runner going from home to first or first to second.

There was another one of these babies for sale a couple of years ago that a wealthy person purchased through a dealer the story goes. It was out for loan, but before Canon could clean it up and deliver it, a photographer from an unnamed wire service dropped it, cracking the front element.

->> How did it perform picture wise? How copressed was the depth of field? Why use this and not a 600 with a 2x? apart from the f8 factor on the 600 2x . Did you put a 2x on this and what did that look like?

I would say that a broadcast video tripod and fluid head would be ideal for this beast.

->> That 1200 is nothing. Why play games? Real men shoot with the 1700mm f4 Carl Zeiss lens. And hand hold them. It only weighs 564 pounds!
