Nikon D2Hs Repair Problem?
Brian Ray, Photographer, Assistant

->> I sent one of the company's D2Hs cameras into NPS for the exciting kind of repair (impact damage) and it returned in pristine condition...except it won't take photos. Shutter fires, buffer counts down, but NOTHING is recorded to the memory card. I've gone through the menu settings looking for anything out of place but no dice. When you shoot continuously, the buffer never fills up...counts all the way down and then just rolls over and starts counting down again without so much as a pause. In addition, the little green light on the memory card door doesn't light up when the camera should be recording data like it usually does. For what it's worth, the camera didn't have this problem when it went into the shop. It was cracked apart pretty good but it would still shoot and record images...badly out of focus, but that's beside the point.

Anybody had this happen before? Is there something simple I'm just missing settings-wise or is this thing going right back to Nikon?

Thanks for the help!

->> I had very similar problem with a D2xs that came back from service. I spoke to the service manager and got an explanation that made sense. There is a clamp or clip that holds a flexible circuit board that popped open allowing the FCB to make intermittent contact and sometimes it would write and sometimes it wouldn't.

Contact NPS and tell them what is going on. They sent me a UPS return tag on their dime and had the whole thing resolve in a day or two. Sh*t happens and the folks at NPS really stepped up to take care of the problem pronto.

Do you have a contact at NPS?
