->> This long-term project really shows the storyteller's development as a photographer. That is, the images start out pretty bad and get pretty good.

There are some awesome photos in there. The woman shooting heroin in the hospital bed? Wow. But the story needs a much tighter edit.

I'd love to check out the book, personally I think I'd enjoy it more in print.

->> this is a great story, but at 13 minutes you will lose the public. They want FAST, FAST, FAST. in short bursts. I as a photographer stayed for the whole time, but the average viewer would be bored.
just my opinion, and sometimes I'm wrong.

I'm not sure she got better as a photog, I like her stuff from the start, as much as the situations got calmer with better light and more time to compose. I think the images in the beginning reflect the chaos of the apartment and flow into the quiter home and the hospital.
No doubt about the length and the public. It takes too long, for me, to get to the voices, in my opinion kinda the point of an audio slideshow. But just because the public isn't patient enough, doesn't mean the work should be shortened. I'm so wrapped up in it I want more. 13 mins for 3 yrs work seems kinda short.
The other thing for me is that worrying about the technical part, while something we all do as photogeeks, misses the point of the story and the striking content.
