| ->> OMG........Greenbay needs to get a dome stadium. I had to spend a very cold winter at Great Lakes for boot camp, no need for me to ever go that far north again during the winter. |

->> hey colter, you just may have come up with a new position with the nfl..
"trophy warmer".
job description: must be able to stand in sub freezing temperatures and keep trophy warm so players won't be injured while kissing said trophy at games end. you will be given a special multi colored vest and allowed to stand in front of anyone you like.

->> Yup, that is cold even by our standards up here.
The key word is "Layers". Don't think a shirt and a jacket will do it for you. You need to have multiple layers. Here is what I do.
Start with a turtle neck, then a fleece, then a wind breaker and a warm jacket. A Parka would be the best.
On the legs at least two layers. Fleece long johns and a pair of warm insulating pants.
For your hands start with liners and on top of that a pair of gloves that have 100-150 grams of Thinsulate insulation in them. This should keep your hands warm and still allow you the dexterity to shoot and change cards. If your fingers get really cold like mine do, add in some hand warmers. These are also good to keep your batteries warm.
On the feet one or two pairs of -30 socks and a pair of -40 boots.
Most importantly, COVER YOUR HEAD!!! You lose about 80% of your body heat through you head.
The more you can move around the warmer you will stay. I know, easier said than done on the sidelines. |

->> Just packing up my equipment and preparing to drive the 2 1/2 hours up to Green Bay from Madison.
Yes it is going to be cold but don't worry about it. A few weeks ago the Packers went into Chicago and were killed because they let the weather psych them out. It can happen with photographer to.
Games like this are what staff photographer dream about. We shoot a lot boring assignments. We try not to roll our eyes, or comment when we are handed the assignment sheet to shoot another...(your know what I'm talking about.)
I really don't care who wins or loses, a win will get me eight days in Arizona, a loss brings me back to what a normally do this time of year.
This game gives me at least one more chance this season, to put my experiences and talent up against some of the best photographers in the country. This is what any photographer dreams about, and prepare for. Photographers are friendly with each other, but we are also very competitive.
My fear of missing the key play or not being in the right position will keep me focused and warm. I will not use the cold as an excuse for anything that happens with my coverage.
Bring on the cold, lets have some fun. |

I am looking forward to watching the Packers vs. Giants game on the tube. I can't wait to see everyone's update from the game.
Best of luck to all the shooters and be safe. |

->> Interesting little article about Don Marx, an NFL films veteran...
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=neel/080117
"Screw the body; everything's a test for the brain. Don't go in the pressroom at halftime because the little shot of warm air will soften you up. Don't get anywhere near the heated benches; they're for the weak. Stand there in the cold and embrace it. Let it know you're not going anywhere. "The only way to get through those games, and do good work, is with attitude," Marx says." |

| ->> That was a great game to watch, but being a desert rat, I would have been totally misearable if I were there in person. I was watching Favre towards the end of the game and thinking to myself, that is one person who was sitting on the sidelines, idle, for far too long. He couldn't get into his groove. At one point I saw him put drops in his eyes or something. Man! I've never been in -4 degrees with a wind chill factor of -24 degrees f. It must have been supercold! |
