->> I have found PhotoShelter's Personal Archive (what you're talking about) a wonderful tool for content management and distribution, but because of the recent launch of the PhotoShelter Collection, I would not recommend it for stock sales. Take a look at both options from PhotoShelter. Unless you're interested in selling prints or event images, and based on your posting, the Collection might be a better fit for you than the personal archive.
ALAMY is another, similar option. |

->> I have PS and love it - the archive and gallery are very easy to use - I have a collection account but have yet to upload some images to it...
Apparently you can link your SS and PS accounts as well - but I don't know how to yet... Can anyone please point me in the right direction? I know that I can export from PS to SS but I have yet to be successful - I think there was something I needed to do here first. |

->> A couple of things:
The Photoshelter Personal Archive and the Photoshelter Collection are two different things.
If your goal is to sell photos online then I would suggest
submitting your images to the PS Collection - it is free to do so.
And by the way - it is very different than ALAMY as the PS Collection is an EDITED library of images and ALAMY is not which means there is a lot of junk in ALAMY - which photo-buyers don't like. Also - you can set your own pricing on the PS Collection - be it rights managed or royalty free - the only caveat is that no microstock is allowed - which is a good thing. The lowest amount you can sell/license an image for is $50.
The Personal Archive is a great tool with so may features - first of all it provides you with a bullet proof archive for your most important work. Secondly it is a great tool for distributing images to your clients and provides excellent self-promotional tools so you can quickly and easily create and send customized galleries to existing and potential clients, if selling prints is part of your business - it can easily be done via your Photoshelter Personal Archive, and the list goes on...
If you already have your own website - then springing for the seamless customization is a no-brainer - so visitors to your website can search your photoshelter archive from your website - which can always lead to a random sale.
I have sold a few images via my Personal Archive - but am also participating in the PS Collection as I think it has much better potential for this since they are marketing the Collection directly to photo-buyers and have designed the Collection with direct input from photo-buyers. You do have to do a little bit of work to submit images to the Collection (correct captioning and keywording) but where else will you receive 70% of your sales?
And just to be clear - you can choose to do one or the other or both - they are not tied to each other. But one additional perk of having a PS Personal Archive is that you can send images from your archive directly to the Collection - which is nice. |

| ->> I'm a very happy Personal Archive user, too--I had it customized to go with my liveBooks site--and I'm now also with the PhotoShelter Collection. They know what they're doing and they're very responsive to user questions and suggestions. Highly recommended! |

->> I have been using PhotoShelter since September 2005. It is also integrated with my website which is Livebooks too.
I use it to display and deliver photos to my commercial clients and have finally started to really integrate it for rights managed sales. It is also the best solution for off site image storage. |
