I’ve had opportunities to attend other great workshops, and my luck continues with the opportunity to attend this one.

I’ve never met any of the instructors or creators of SSA V, but it is blatantly obvious from the videos they’ve posted and their achievements that they hold a vast amount of knowledge they want to share with the sports photography community.

I can’t stress this enough. Do Your Homework! Come with pages of pre-thought out questions. This is the only way we can truly repay them for their efforts.

->> I received numerous emails from people over in the past couple of days wanting to know what the deadline for application is for SSA V.

As I've said in the past, there is no deadline per se, that when I fill the workshop I will start a list.

At the moment, I am looking at Dec. 31 as my goal to have this workshop totally filled and the waiting list started ... and we are about over 2/3 there.

So if you want to attend THE coolest sports photography event of the year ... better getting moving and submit your application.

We have a very cool event schedule ... and we have been discussing adding a few more things that we have not yet announced!

(Hmmmm ... Think Donald Miralle ... underwater photography ...)

->> I know there are a lot of very talented students out there who have not applied to SSA V. I feel compelled to try to persuade at least a couple more to apply, because first there are no reasons not to. And second, I want to network with more passionate new comers.

Here are my arguments for some of the excuses you may have.

1. I can’t afford it….Get a part time job delivering pizza in the evenings for three weeks, or sell some of your old toys.
2. I can’t miss class…..I’ll put money on the fact that most reputable photo programs would be happy to make accommodations for you to attend this workshop.
3. *I don’t see myself as a sports photographer…….The way I see it no matter what area of photojournalism you want to specialize in whether it is documentary, sports or portraiture, you are trying to specialize in capturing moments. Sports photography is fantastic practice for capturing and anticipating moments. Those of you who are strongest at documentary work will benefit greatly from shooting more sports.

So come on damn it.

There are many reasons why students and working pros invest the time, energy and money in educational programs, even ones like the Sports Shooter Academy.

If I had to add anything to the list above it would be: Enrolling in a class, a multi-day workshop or seminar is an INVESTMENT in yourself.

Growth educationally and professionally are key components to any good program or class. And this is certainly true with the Sports Shooter Academy.
