NEW DATE AND PRESENTERS FOR CONCORD MONITOR/APPM PHOTOJOURNALISM WORKSHOP!

THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 2007 -- SAVE THE DATE!

Please plan to come to the Concord Monitor on Thursday, June 21, 2007, for a day long workshop on photojournalism and photo management. The conference will be co-hosted by the Monitor and the Associated Press Photo Managers Association.

We've changed the date of the conference because keynote presenter, multimedia photojournalist Travis Fox of Washingtonpost.com (see bio, below), has been sent to Kosovo on assignment in late May.

Fox will present his work as a videojournalist and talk about the current state of the multimedia journalism. He will also lead a hands-on workshop that will explore in detail the practical and journalistic techniques of the video journalist.

The day will also include:

-Thea Breite, Multimedia editor for the Boston Globe, talking about the challenges of picture editing in the multimedia age
-Dan Gorenstein, a reporter with New Hampshire Public Radio, will demonstrate the technical and journalistic techniques for audio storytelling
-A round-table discussion on photo management. Topics to include managing in a time of shrinking resources, ethics, multimedia and its impact on our resources, covering the NH Primary, and more

-Why documentary photojournalism still matters. Speaker TBA.

-And lunch of course!!

Stay tuned for registration information, but this WILL remain the date of the conference.

Travis Fox is an Emmy Award-winning video producer for washingtonpost.com, where he covers international and domestic stories. Past assignments have taken him to the war in Iraq and across the Middle East, Europe and Asia. His distinctive web video and panoramic photos are considered innovative in the field of Internet journalism. In 2006, he received an Emmy Award for his coverage of Hurricane Katrina. The White House News Photographers Association has named him Editor of the Year three times, most recently in 2006. In 2002, he was also named Camera Person of the Year. In addition to washingtonpost.com, Fox's videos are regularly featured on television and in film festivals. He graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism and lives in New York.
