->> I know there are numerous scroll bar scripts out there, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a script that could be updated by people that don't have regular access to the webfiles and the FTP account.

For example I used to have a scroll bar that scrolled across latest sports scores from teams that I cover. However, it would be a lot better if people could come to my site and update their scores without me personally have to put the information in.

Is there anything like that or does my question even make sense?

->> Scrollbars = (put simply) are the things you used to navigate the website if it goes outside your browsers current size.

Are you talking about a news ticker/scroller ?

->> Jason,

You could allow "trusted" people to update the scores with a rogram. (Not the programs you've been seeing.) I recommend "trusted" people to prevent expletives, spam, wrong scores, etc. being put into your scores file, etc.

Basically it would work like this. "One time" you'd update your website with a file on your website. (The "contents" file which contains the teams and scores.) Then the scores would scroll across your website with the contents of that file. Think about how you'd want to "expire" a score from scrolling, etc. (24 hours after the score was provided, etc. or you manually going in administratively and "turning off" a previously provided score. (The sky is the limit; just think how you want it to work.)

Depending on how you'd like to "trust" your users; login, password protected, etc...they'd get to a page, fill in the team names with the scores, hit submit and it would add it to the file which would then immediately appear on your site along with all the other scores in the file.

I've kept this "simple" about "one" way to accomplish your goal. If you like, feel free to contact me by email via my member page and I can give you more details and other ways to go about this.

Take care.

Jim

->> Drew yes I had a scores ticker that ran at the top of my website that I would update scores on. But it is EXTREMELY time consuming because we cover so many schools, so I am looking for a way to have a coach or a parent/fan login and enter a score while they call it in to the newspaper.

That way I don't have to be the only one to enter the information in.

Jim I sent you an email.
