Photokina a flop?

->> Thus far, I am the only one disappointed with the announcements from Photokina? Nothing major from Canon or Nikon on the pro front and really, nothing all that exciting in the other areas. It seems that Sigma has made the most noise.

->> Sandisk Extreme III 16Gig CF Card was my highlight, that's a pretty major leap right there, even if it costs an arm and a leg.

->> I don't get it. I heard from so many places (online, magazines, word-of-mouth) that Canon was coming out with a new pro body. In fact I was depending on it so prices of the Mark II would drop. I, for one don't need anything fancier and was hoping to get one after a nice drop in price.

->> Photokina was a good one. I got all my gear cleaned and checked for free from the NPS-guys. I spend some money for Think Tank gear. It was good to see, they're coming out with a new rolling case "Airport International".

Of course, there was no big bang new toy. Still, good to try out possible purchases before ordering.

pretty big I think, not that it's economically practical, but a nice bit of overly anticipated bling....

Don't fret, PMA is in February. Should be more announcements then.

->> I was pretty sure Nikon wasn't going to come out with a new pro body but, I enjoyed the mass announcments of gadgets anyhow. The Leica was a huge one, I now want one. Hassleblad: being the only producer "up-to-date" MF cameras (for the love of god please, let Mamiya back in the game) announcing their new body would only accept their backs was another big yet terrible announcment. New Zeiss ZF lenses, not so much, but 1700 f/4 was pretty cool.
