Movin' to Virginia

| ->> I wanted to let everybody know that I was offered and accepted a staff position at the Daily Progress in Charlottesville, Virginia. It has been a wonderful time here at the Burlington County Times but I am Southern bound. I've seen a lot of amazing work come from great photographers down there. I am really looking forward to working in the area. |

->> Hey Matthew,
C'ville is a nice town, just over the mountain from (and almost as nice as) Lexington. Maybe I'll run into you at the occasional sacrificial offering when my VMI Keydets take on the Cavs at U Hall.

Welcome to VA. I am only an hour away in Richmond.
Maybe I will see on the sidelines.

I am sure we will all bump into each other at some point. I didn't know TJ was dead. News to me. |

I used to shoot for Richmond Times, CV is a badass town. Dave Mathews lives in CV so maybe you will get to shoot him on a more personel level.

->> Matt,
Congrats to the new job. I'm originally from Springfield but have spent my fair share in the dirty south of VA.
Three things you need to do in VA...
1.) Aunt Sarah's Pancake House.
2.) The Loch Ness Monster at Busch Gardens.
3.) Skyline drive in the fall (bring a date, thank me later).
After that you can die a happy man. Enjoy VA.

->> Not to high jack the thread but Dave Matthews lives in Seattle. Still has a farm in CV but doesnt "live" there anymore. Just some FYI.
And congrats on the move, Matt. Maybe SSA2 helped. |

| ->> My father dragged me onto the Loch Ness Monster when I was about five years old. I'm not expecting to go back on it anytime soon. But I will definitely check out the Skyline drive. I wanted to drive it on my way back to Philly but I didn't have enought time. |

->> Matt,
Congrats on the staff position. It's excellent news.
Virginia has some excellent shooters. Josh Meltzer of the Roanoke Times has just been named a Photog of the Year for small markets by NPPA. In general the Roanoke Times is an excellent newspaper. They've been doing awesome multimedia stuff recently.
Richmond Times Dispatch has wonderful people and an excellent designer too. Richmond reminds me of Philly in many ways, except we don't have General Lee's monuments here, I think.
Good luck,
Marcin Szczepanski |
