I use A5.com. I've been with them for at least half a dozen years - back to when it was called Dave's world. They are local, take good care of me, are priced reasonable, and I can't remember the last time someone told me they couldn't get to my site.

->> Hi Matt-
Check out dreamhost. I've been hosting ten sites with them for a little over a year (since I switched from dogbark at the recommendation of a friend). I absolutely LOVED everything about dogbark, except they were hugely expensive (since I had multiple domains).
Here are the dreamhost rate plans:
http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html
Their minimum plan ($8/month) is 20 gig of space & it's less than godaddy's 10 gig plan. I have their "code monster" plan ($16/month for 60 gig of space, one free domain registration, 1.6 TB monthly bandwidth & unlimited domains hosted). I've had great customer service experience with them as well. Let me know if you choose dreamhost, since I'd love to get a referral (my referral ID is carynlevy). Thanks.

I like it because I can run as many web sites as I want for my monthly fee of $49. I currently have 4 web sites going and plan to add another one in the next month or two.

->> I HIGHLY recommend wisesource hosting... the owner/operator Paul Matthews is amazing. He offers incredible service, and he's a small business owner who handles pretty much everything on his own. I'm amazed by his extreme dedication to his business and clients. No matter what time of day or night I send him an email asking a question, he responds almost immediately. Excellently priced plans, great service, almost no downtime, just can't be beat... send him an email... his first email response will show you why you should host with him.

It's hard to get me to rave so much about other businesses or products, but I've never been more impressed.

www.wisesource.com ... check it out, tell him I sent you.

->> I use Dreamhost.com the amount of transfer is huge, they add on 16GB of transfer every month to your total. I now have 2.4TB of transfer a month. With 48 gigs of storage, I have their lowest cost plan at $119/ year.

I really like how your account grows but the price stays very cheap in comparison to others with the same stats. The support is quick and helpful never had any noticible downtime. But the best part are the deals they have for new customers. I got my last years hosting (same as now minus the growth) for 9.99 for the entire year using the 777 deal.

->> Another Aplus.net customer here. I chose it mainly because it's a local company to me. I've never tried any other web host companies so I can't compare, but Aplus.net is fine to me.

...well, almost. I don't like the fact that I can send/receive only 500 e-mails every 1/2 hour. As an event photographer I often need to send out way more than that. A couple of months ago I accidentally went over the limit, and they shut down my site for more than 1/2 day. I wasn't happy about their slow response (although it was my fault...). Neither my potential customers.

Note: they have a few packages to choose from, and better ones than mine may not have the 500 e-mails/30 min option.

If you're an idiot about everything web and want to work with nice people who really show you that "it's not that hard," contact them. They host for TONS of photographers and designers and specialize in visually literate people.... pm-r
