A quick note, though, on the selection. My opening image is a simple snap shot, but is by far my favorite for its significance. It is the final picture I have of my wife, taken as she coached her last softball game…she passed away shortly after this image was captured, though when I look at it I see the determination with which she fought her cancer (and with which she approached sport as a player or coach). She was also in inspiration for me in my photographic pursuits, encouraging me to get out of her hospital room and make some pictures for her so that she could ‘be part of the game’ as well…though I know she understood that I needed a break from those far too frequent hospital stays over the years. So, while she still is an inspiration, I do want to thank all of the members of SS and those of the Florida shooting community who have been so supportive since her passing. Someone said it’s great that we get paid to do something we love, but it’s even better when we can work with genuinely good people who understand the passion we have for what we do, regardless of the level.
