It appears to be a nice little semi-pro.

I hear it hasn't been released yet because the images appear flat.

->> It would sort of make sense for Canon to re-purpose the older full-frame sensor in a lower priced camera. They may have planned this all along.

Just a for instance... Many CPU designs are not scrapped when they are replaced by faster CPUs. Instead Intel etc. moves them into specialized uses.

Assuming it would be true, this new camera should perform better than a 1Ds because of possible minor upgrades to the production of the 12Mp chip, better image processors and improved software.

Maybe now Nikon will stop answering the "Why don't you have a full-frame sensor" question with "Why would you want a full-frame sensor?"

full disclosure: still shooting Nikon D1H

->> If true, it looks like a full-frame version of the D30/D60/10D/20D family - with yet a new optional grip.

The specifications read mostly from the 20D with a few expected enhancements. Of course the new EF-S lenses will be wasted on a camera with a full-frame sensor, but how nice will it be to have a DSLR capable of taking 10mm wide angle shots!

If I didn't have a relatively new 20D, I might be interested in an upgrade to this line, but my next body is upgrading my 1D to a 1Dm2.

English version
We have the confidence in a 98%
This is a buzz that’s come from a friend of a friend and comes directly from the USA.
The New Digital Camera from Canon would be the Canon 5D
The desired camera that many of us bent to call this Canon 3D, and the one that we bet about the main features now is real, with photos and technical features
Main Features:
• 13 MPX Sensor, full frame
• 3 fps till a maximum of 60 with JPG high quality
• AF with 9 points
• LCD of 2.5”
• Magnesium body
• DIGIC II
•USB 2.0
The others features are equal than the 20D.
As you can see in the pictures is very similar too.

Official date for the introduction, late in Augost 2005
Date for the sales, October 2005 (Like other cameras for Canon)

We are very secure of this rumour, but maybe we are wrong, so, in this case, please excuse us.
But, as it will be real remember that the first web that you read about the new Canon 5D was www.ojodigital.com

Best regards!

->> If the Canon 5D PDF spec sheet that has been going around online is true one glaring omission for shooters will be that it provides no Custom White Balance. It has the usual pre-set white balance choices and two tweak settings called White balance compensation for Blue/Amber and Magenta/Green.

I guess if you're a stickler you could always just shoot a grey/white card and do everything in RAW and set the white balance in the post on the computer. It also uses something called Canoln RAW 2nd Edition. Not sure if the latest Photoshop will handle that.
