Shuttle Launch--who's going?

->> Hi guys,
There's about 2,500 credentialed media scheduled to cover Wednesday's shuttle launch here in Florida. I just wanted to see if any SS members will be there so I can keep a look out (and others can know as well).
I'm very excited. I've never seen one.

| ->> It looks like I'll be there starting Sunday for the crew arrival. Hopefully Dennis doesn't help NASA with the inevitable delays the launch will incur. |

->> I shot the secondary position once back when I was freelancing for the Sentinel - there's nothing quite like it - it looks like fire streaking through the sky. I really wish my paper was a little closer, so I could cover this one - I'll have to break out the Apollo 13 DVD and the From the Earth to the Moon HBO miniseries DVDs to celebrate (really good stuff if you like history or space).
Is Red Huber all over this one I assume? Or has the Sentinel passed the toarch to you Autumn? |

| ->> No, Red's still at it. He's absolutely amazing. He's coordinating this whole thing really well - it seems like he knows everything there is to know about it. He's setting up remotes around the launch pad too. We'll have a team of about 6 photogs there. It should be a lot of fun. |

->> Ronnie, I will not be going to the shuttle launch.
My parents have seen a launch and say it is amazing to witness.
Good luck Autumn, I wish I could be there!!! |

->> Hi Autumn
You will enjoy the launch, and hopefully there will not be any delays. I was fortunate to shoot the Hubble Telescope launch from apprx. 3 miles , and it was awsome. The sounds and vibrations from that distance were very powerful, and described well by NASA's Travis Thompson,Orlando Sentinel, July 10th 2005. "I love to stand there and feel the shock waves. They actually ripple your shirt. It sounds like every Harley in the world just cranked up at the same time"
Good luck

->> Hi Autumn,
I'll be up there running around crazily as the only photographer from the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers. I'm looking foreard to it and I hope to meet some of the folks from SS while I'm up there.
Take Care,
Alex Boerner |

| ->> Unfortunately the mission has been scrapped for today (fuel tank sensor issues). For those of you who went, sorry that it didn't happen. They're saying that there was a lot of media ready to cover the event. They stopped the clock at T-1hr2min I believe. |
