| Aaron Bell's Message: |
I am a freelance sports photographer based in Belleville, Ontario.
Like a lot of professional photographers, my art started as a hobby. I used to borrow (usually with permission, but not always) my dad's Pentax SLR and whatever lenses he had to try to make some interesting photos.
Over the past decade I have been fortunate to turn a fun hobby into a big part of how I make my living.
I am the primary photographer for the Canadian Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League and am responsible for the photography needs for online, publications and presentation material. That gig keeps me pretty busy during the fall and winter months and gives me the fantastic opportunity to cover some great hockey events like the World Junior Championships, Top Prospects Game and Memorial Cup.
My hockey work regularly appears in Prospects Hockey magazine, CHL and OHL event programs, The Hockey News, In the Game trading card series and online at CHL.ca and ontariohockeyleague.com. My images are also used by media outlets that cover junior hockey and member teams in the CHL and the NHL for print and online needs.
During the summer months, I spend time shooting NASCAR and other racing events for Motorsport.com and NASCAR event programs published by Anthem Guest Communications. I enjoy taking on other photographic projects and assignments to build my skills in all areas.
Away from the lens, I am a professional writer and have penned four hockey books including OHL Classics, 25 Years with the Belleville Bulls, More Macs More and Choice, Opportunity, Success: Life in the OHL. My work is also regularly published in Prospects Hockey Magazine, NASCAR Event programs published by ASG and online at Ontariohockeyleague.com, CHL.ca and Motorsport.com.
My post-secondary education includes the Business Administration program at Sheridan College and the Magazine Publishing program at Ryerson University.
I shoot with NIKON gear.
