I SURVIVED BOTTLEROCK!
Five days, almost 70 bands on 5 different stages, over 30,000 people a day and hundreds of photographers.
Toss in dozens of popular wineries and gourmet eateries and that pretty much sums up the BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival experience.
Oh...then there is the walking, heat and dust. a lot of walking.
This was my first time ever shooting a giant music festival and BottleRock's first time ever putting one on. they kind of snuck it in under the city's nose by holding it on state property and threw it altogether pretty much last minute.
That being said, from what I could tell everything went pretty smoothly.
Bands came from out of the woodwork to play this festival, pulling names like The Black Keys, Zac Brown Band, Kings of Leon and Cake.
My personal favorites were by far Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Michael Franti with Spearhead and the Flaming Lips. They all put on a amazing show.
All and all, 5 days of blood, sweat and exhaustion paid off in the end leaving me with my head full of amazing music, my eye visually satisfied and my mind completely blown.
I love my job. Most people take pictures when they are on vacation, so for me, it's kind of vacation everyday. After all it's not really working if you're having fun... right?
