This was Armstrong's first ever off-road triathlon and his first triathlon of any kind in over 20 years. He was third at this point in the race, but faded on the descent and 10K run to finish 5th overall. |

| Dennis Montgomery's Message: |
The gallery photos were taken during a busy summer of bike racing in Utah. The races shown include a professional road racing stage race, (The Tour of Utah), the XTerra Off-Road Triathlon Championships and the Snowbasin 100K Mountain Bike race.
The beauty of these races was being able to photograph the wide range of athletes, from professionals to weekend warriors, competing in events which showcased speed, endurance, technical ability, strategy and just pure guts.
Knowing the courses and the terrain was a big help in getting images that did not duplicate the work of dozens of other photographers at the races.
